2007 Perth Autosalon - July 21st / 22nd

Well another Perth Autosalon is over and I must say I was quite impressed with the level of cars that attended the show. Perth has really stepped it up in terms of quality but even still there's only a small handful of car builders willing to go the extra step in having something truly show stopping.

The show for me was typical.... I guess after doing it so many times it becomes almost routine! In all the show was great, met a lot of new and old faces, got the usual feedback and in general had a good time. LE RX7 as usual attracted a fair amount of onlookers, some impressed, and some not. That's what building a show stopper is about which is what a lot of people don't realise. There are so many unique and innovative concepts in the car that some people will love it and some will hate it. That is the beauty of self expression.... it's my car and I choose to express myself through it!

There were no real surprises with the results... Osmans took out King of Autosalon with their no budget WRX. LE RX7 pulled in second place on points and was nominated for King of Autosalon, as well as taking home another 5 trophies including People's Choice Runner-Up.

One thing I thought that was worth mentioning which a lot of people might not know is that to be in contention to win King of Auto Salon you must have got on the dyno, done a power run and produced a figure. This figure goes towards the judging. The OSMANS WRX got on the dyno but the diff blew... they never actually produced a power run nor a figure yet they still won King of Auto Salon. In theory they should never have been able to win King, nor even been a Nominee. It's these types of inconsistencies and double standards that make people question the credibility of the results.

In saying that however, I don't really want to win King on a technicality because the OSMANS car is a great car and they deserve it but I wonder if it had been another car if they would have been eligible to win?

Special thanks goes to my good friend Michael Sammut who helped me throughout the week leading up to the show and also on show day.

2006 Autosalon Final Battle

The 2006 Autosalon FInal Battle was held at Olympic Park (Sydney) in December 2006. LE RX7 was part of the invitational area where the best of the best in the country go head to head. LE RX7 was the only representative from Perth.

2006 Western Salon

LE RX7 was the main feature car at the 2006 Western Salon where it was a huge hit with the crowd eaily winnning the People's Choice trophy.

2006 Perth Auto Salon

LE RX7 made it's debut appearance at this show and actually surprised a lot of people as no one really knew Dan was building the car. A few of the innovative concepts already built into the car made it a crowd favourite and the car took home a fair few awards. Special thanks to friends James Mandy and Dan's brother Paul for making the show happen... Dan was holidaying in Europe at the time of the show.
